Infertility is defined as trying to get pregnant for at least one year without any results (with frequent intercourse). Female infertility and male infertility impact millions of pairs, or a combination. Approximately 10 to 18 percent of pairs have difficulty getting pregnant or getting delivery.
Female factors produce infertility around one third, while male factors approximately one third.
The cause in the other cases is unknown or a combination of men and women. It is difficult for women to diagnose the causes of infertility. Many therapies are available, depending on the cause of infertility. There will be many unfruitful couples

Laparoscopy is one of the diagnostic procedures or surgical treatment that allows a surgeon to examine the abdomen and pelvis from inside without making large incisions in the skin. It is also termed as diagnostic laparoscopy. In this procedure, an instrument called a laparoscope is used that has a light and a camera on it. The light and the camera on the instrument enable the doctor to see and observe your abdominal organs easily. This procedure is typically used for identifying and diagnosing the actual cause of pain in the abdomen or pelvis or miscarriage. The doctors mostly recommend this procedure to examine the inner organs, including the liver, appendix, gallbladder, stomach, spleen, colon, pancreas, and the reproductive organs. Some of the reasons for diagnostic laparoscopy include unexplained infertility, unexplained Pelvic Pain, and any pelvic infection in medical history.
Intrauterine Insemination is a technique that includes the placement of viable sperm directly into the woman's uterine cavity while she is ovulating. This procedure is performed when there are abnormalities in the sperm, such as low sperm count, low motility etc. The goal of this fertility treatment is to increase the count of sperms in a male that would reach the fallopian tube in a woman and subsequently result in an increased chance of conception or fertilisation.
Hysteroscopy is a surgical treatment mainly performed for removing the uterus from the body of a woman. The procedure is either performed through the abdomen or the vagina. However, it ultimately depends on what exactly is to be removed. Well, there are mainly three types of Hysterectomy, i.e. a partial hysterectomy (removal of the uterus, but leaving the cervix intact), a standard hysterectomy (removal of uterus as well as cervix), and a total hysterectomy (removal of cervix, uterus, fallopian tube, and one or both ovaries). If you are having symptoms like uterine fibroids, unusual or massive vaginal bleeding, adenomyosis, cancer, uterine prolapse, endometriosis, then certainly need hysteroscopy.
In-Vitro Fertilisation is a type of technology for reproduction. This procedure involves freezing of an egg outside the body, in a laboratory dish. After freezing, the egg is implanted to the woman's uterus to help her conceive. With IVF, there are chances for multiple births. This technology is also known as Oocyte Cryopreservation or Egg Freezing. This procedure is also called Ovarian Tissue Bank. The technique used for Cryopreservation is mainly termed as " Vitrification".
ICSI stands for Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection, a procedure considered to be an addition to IVF. It is a technique in which a single sperm is selected and then injected into an egg directly. This procedure results in a higher rate of fertilisation, in comparison to that of IVF. If the sperm parameters are weak, such as low motility, low concentration, poor morphology, etc., it indicates the use of this procedure.
Blastocyst transfer is an embryo transfer procedure in which one or more embryos are transferred that are at their most advanced stage for further development. The advanced stage of embryo is called the blastocyst stage. The procedure of embryo transfer is usually performed on the fifth day after the follicular aspirations. Dr. Chandana Veeramachaneni is highly experienced in performing the method of blastocyst transfer.
Semen freezing refers to a procedure in which the sperm cells are frozen in order to be preserved for later use. The sperms are stored or placed in liquid nitrogen at a temperature of minus 195C. These sperm can be stored for many years, and the quality can be maintained.
TESA (Testicular Sperm Aspiration) refers to a procedure for retrieving sperms. It is performed by inserting a needle in the aspirating fluid and testes, and in the tissues with negative pressure.
Embryo freezing refers to a procedure that allows people to store their embryos for future use. In this procedure, the embryos are frozen and stored for later use. It involves IVF, a process in which eggs are removed from the ovary of a woman and is then combined with sperm in the laboratory for developing embryos. The embryos are first frozen, thawed, and then placed in the uterus of a woman. Typically, embryo freezing is a type of fertility preservation and may be useful for those women who are struggling with cancer and want to have their biological children after having chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or other surgeries which may lead to infertility. The procedure of embryo freezing is also called embryo cryopreservation of embryo banking. If you want to get your embryos frozen and preserve your fertility for future, consult Dr. Chandana Veeramachaneni, an Infertility Specialist in Vijayawada.
Oocyte donation refers to a process by which a woman provides 10-15 oocytes/eggs for assisted reproduction. This process of oocyte donation is a part of third party reproduction called Assisted Reproductive Technology.
